Common Plant Fungal Disease

Pathogen Information

Grey mold is an airborn fungi that thrives in cool, damp enviorments. Spreading throught the wind and carried by insescts it can be identified by the following characteristics:

  • soft brown spots forming on the tissue of the plant
  • grey or white fuzzy spots
  • mold can quickly spread through the plant
  • Can affect leaves, stems, and fruits

Environmental Conditions

  • Temperature: 60-70°F
  • Humidity: High Humidity or prolonged periods of wetness
  • This can effect all plants through open sores

Prevention Methods

  • Avoid overhead irrigation
  • Maintain proper plant spacing
  • Remove and destroy infected plant debris
  • Keep leaves dry and improve air circulation
