Reproduction Cycle

The Harlequin bug will hibernate over winter and emerge in the spring to mate and lay eggs. Their life cycle includes:

  • Eggs: layed in distinct line they will constist or 10 to 13 eggs and last 4 to 20 day
  • Nymphs: Over the course of 6 to 8 weeks the bug will molt and become an adult
  • Adult: typically live for 60 to 60 days and hibernate over winter

Social Aspects

Harlequin bugs are not truly a social insect but exhibit social behaviors that includes:

  • During colder months they will congregate in large numbers
