Entomology
Thrips are tiny, slender insects typically measuring 0.5-2mm in length. These minute pests are barely visible to the naked eye. Their most distinctive features include:

Reproduction Cycle
Thrips have a fast life cycle with completeing there full life with in just a few weeks, these stages include:
- Eggs: Eggs hatch with in a few days
- Larva: this will be their longest stage of life lasting 3 to 6 days
- Pupa: Typically lasting only a few days
- Adult: this stage can last up to 30 days if ideal conditions are met
Social Aspects
Thrips have a complex social structure with some specices in a social network with soldier protecting the nest, some common behaviors include:
- Assigning task to each individual such as soldiers
- building nests inside the stem on a plant forming a gall
- Have been know to attaclk the eggs of other insects
Treatment Options
- Spray plants with strong water stream
- Introduce natural predators (ladybugs, lacewings)
- Apply insecticidal soap
- Use neem oil
- Prune heavily infested areas
