History
Leeks were first grown by the egypitians over 2000 years ago with with egyptians and the jewish people noting how abundent it was throughout egypt. The roman emperor nero was know for a foodness of leek being given the nickname leek eater. By the 6th century ST. davids victory had connected leeks with bravery and courage and it worn by the wales rugby team to honor him.

Plant care
Sowing Seeds
Sow seeds in a well draining soil about a 1/4 inch deep. Plant seeds about 1 inch apart and cover with straw
Germination
Seeds can take 7 to 14 day for germination
Pruning
Once the leeks have grown to about 8 to 10 inches tall transplant the in to a new hole. Make a hole about 5 to 6 deep and with about 6 inches of space. Do not fill the holes back in with soil.
Harvest
Harvest when the leeks are about 1 inch in diameter. gently pull them out by hand or use a pitch fork to dig them out.
Growing Tips
Leaving the hole open will willmake the leeks tender and white at the base, watering wil bring soild down to cover the roots
